Hogmanay celebrations on the Isle of Harris

This time of year is quiet and pleasant. Fans of winter will love visiting the Isle of Harris. When covered in snow, it makes for a picture postcard setting. And whatever outdoor activities you embark upon, you can be assured that a warm cottage awaits you. Enjoy a whirlpool bath and sauna to heat up your bones. Then, sit by your stove as darkness falls and the stars come out, peppering the inky night sky.

Seeing out the old year and bringing in the new works best with a dram of whisky – or so we’ve discovered! The island has its own distillery, the Isle of Harris Distillery, and it produces delicious whisky and gin. Hogmanay holidays are the perfect time to reflect on the year, and our cottages are the ideal place to do so. Just make sure you have your drink of choice at the ready such as a bottle of the Hearach single malt before settling in on the 31st. Breaks in Scotland at New Year at Blue Reef Cottages are special, to say the least.
